PROGRAMME FAQ
What is Show Us What You Got?
Show Us What You Got is the brand new music talent programme showcasing the best that Inverkeithing High School has to offer.
That’s the concept in one sentence, if you want to know the exact details of the programme – then head over to the About Show Us What You Got page.
How many episodes are they in a series?
It depends on how many bands and musicians want to appear on the programme. The average number of episodes I hope to have is between three to five.
So why is there only two for the first series?
Two reasons:
- Out of the three bands that were originally signed to appear on the programme: two of them pulled out due to conflicting schedules; and the other having all of the band members leaving the school so it didn’t fit the guest criteria. Instead of delaying the programme for a long period of time – I decided that it was best to go with one band and the Talent Showdown episode for this series only.
- This series will also act as a taster to what a full series may offer. Going with a small number of episodes is a more managable risk to take; rather than having a series of four to six episodes and the series fails after the first episode.
So when can we expect “a full series”?
At the time of writing this FAQ [June 2008], the exact date is unknown. If a second series does go ahead, then expect it around early 2009. I will release the precise details nearer the time. Although it will depend on whether people want a second series or not.
I would like a second series to happen, how do I make my point?
At the end of this series, I will set up a feedback process. So you can tell me your thoughts on the programme – including whether or not you want the second series. Details will be announced after the first series is finished.

Any requirements to appear on Show Us What You Got?
There a few requirements you need to meet if you wish to appear on Show Us What You Got:
- You/your band must be active in music.
- You/your band must have at least ONE gig or ONE song done.
- You/your band must have an active webpage/MySpace/Bebo page.
- The band members attend Inverkeithing High School – most of them must attend.
- The band has been active for at least three months.
- The rest of the band must also have the desire to appear on the programme.
- You must have the desire to appear on the programme.
- You must be willing to cooperate with myself in producing the programme.
- You should have a talent for music – obviously.
- Give it 200%. The best you can do.
I’m in a band that has all of its members attending Inverkeithing High School in the past. Would we be still able to appear on the programme?
No. If you all have left IHS, there is no point of having you appearing on a programme that showcases the musical talent by the current pupils of the school.
Do my band need to take our music seriously before we appear on the programme?
Yes you do. I am interested in promoting those who take their craft seriously and give up large amounts of spare time to pursue that passion.
The same applies to musicians as well?
Yes.
RSS FAQ
What is RSS?
RSS stands for Really Simple Syndication and is a way of publishing frequently updated content [blog posts, news headlines, podcasts, etc] in a standard format – or an RSS feed.
What are the advantages of using RSS
If you use RSS feeds, then it means you can have the latest content sent to you, saving you from visting a website manually. In this case, using the RSS feed from the Show Us What You Got blog means you can get the latest news and programme announcements without having to type the blog’s address into your browser.
What software do I need to use RSS feeds?
You will need a type of software called a ‘feed reader’ or a ‘news aggregator’ in order to grab the RSS feed from this blog. You can either download the software from the Internet; sign-up to a web-based feed reader service [some displayed below]; or use the feed reader found in your Internet browser [instructions to add a feed will appear later in this faq].
